Cranberry sauce is one of those Thanksgiving treats where lots of sugar sneaks in! This cranberry orange sauce recipe comes from Erika’s mom, and puts a healthy twist on a holiday favorite!

Servings 2- ¼ cup

Ingredients

½ cup fresh orange juice from one orange

½ cup water

1 (12 oz) bag fresh or frozen cranberries (do not use dried)

Zest of one orange, about 2 teaspoons

Pinch of salt

Honey and agave to sweeten

Instructions

  1. Bring orange juice and water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add cranberries, orange zest and salt and bring back to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and boil gently for about ten minutes, until most of the cranberries have burst open. Stir in desired amount of sweetener.
  2. Transfer cranberry orange sauce to a serving bowl. Cover and chill until ready to serve.
