The lasting impact of COVID-19

COVID Long Hauler

COVID-19 has been a devastating sickness that has affected the lives of many these past couple of years. There are as many nuances to the disease itself as there are to the context in which it has occurred. The COVID-19 storm has left much tragedy in it’s discourse that serves to be reviewed in great detail. The main focus of this article is to reveal relevant information on how to clean up in its wake and how to support the health of many who have been impacted by it from a physical standpoint.

A systematic review published in October, 2021 in the JAMA Network Open reported that more than half of people infected with COVID-19 continued to experience at least one symptom six months after their diagnosis. In this systematic review of more than 2,100 studies between December 2019 through March 2021, the most common persistent symptoms involved functional mobility impairments, pulmonary abnormalities, and mental health disorders. In many of these cases, it is likely symptoms have persisted beyond the study timeframe of six months and may even exist still to this day.

Complexities driven by underlying conditions

The CDC reports that 95% of COVID hospitalizations had at least one underlying medical condition. Metabolic disorders (hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes and obesity) were the most prevalent and death was most common in patients with more than 10 conditions.

For some, COVID-19 ushered in lingering symptoms and for these people it has been termed Post-COVID-19 Syndrome or “COVID Long-Haulers syndrome”. At first, the original strain seemed to have an affinity for the liver and the nervous system; causing elevated liver enzyme in some, metabolic changes and/or neurological loss of taste/smell for long periods of time and for which some has still not returned. As every virus does, it continued to mutate and over time it’s patterns seemed to be less predictable; winding up in various areas of the body in which there was a weaker link- either through pre-existing conditions due to lifestyle choices, genetic pre-dispositions, and/or auto-immune conditions.

For the Long-Hauler, it was COVID that “broke the camel’s back” in terms of the person’s health status. There are/were likely multiple imbalances in the body prior to COVID infection that were not fully handled that left the person with lingering symptoms of fatigue, shortness of breath, brain fog, headaches, chronic pain, chronic cough and or absence of taste/smell still to this day. This is by no means a comprehensive list of symptoms as previously stated, symptoms will be a direct reflection of whichever organ/organ system/tissue was weakest and for which the virus can now take hold and have lasting impacts.

The constellation of symptoms long haulers experience, however, is not unique to this infection. There are many viral, parasite, fungal and/or bacterial infections, such as Lyme disease, that can cause similarly very long-lasting symptoms and/or pre-disposed the body to auto-immune conditions.  How healthy the body’s terrain seems to be most significant in determining if COVID will be the tipping point for the individual’s health status.

Regardless, the common thread is that Long Haulers have not been able to return to their previous health viability- optimal or not, and a result persisting symptoms are negatively affecting quality of life.

Hope for COVID Long-Hauler Syndrome

The good news is, there is help. It doesn’t come in the form of a pill or a quick fix, however it is a viable one to handle COVID long-haul symptoms as well as any pre-existing conditions (diagnosed or un-diagnosed) that contribute to the current state of health.

Nutrition Response Testing ℠ is a natural, safe, and precise analysis used by trained professionals at Paramount Wellness to locate stressed areas of the body, determine nutritional deficiencies associated with the presenting symptoms and providing the necessary supplementation to restore one’s health.

With this method we are able to identify the UNDERLYING cause of the chronic situation and use targeted nutritional supplementation to create a HEALING response that leads to the resolution of symptoms once and for all.
