Not Broken. Just Healing in the Wrong Order.

Not Broken. Just Healing in the Wrong Order.

"The body isn't broken. It's just been trying to heal in the wrong order."

Countless treatments. Countless supplements. Countless diets. For many people living with chronic illness, this is the pattern — try something new, feel a little better, plateau, and start again. The labs improve. The person doesn't. Nobody quite explains why.

In this solo episode of The Resiliency Method® The Truth About Healing Podcast, Dr. Erika breaks down the idea at the center of her clinical philosophy: chronic illness usually isn't a sign that something is broken. It's a sign that healing has been happening out of sequence treatments layered on top of a body that was never given the chance to clear, rebuild, and restore in the order it actually needs.

The Sequence Nobody Talks About

Most conversations about chronic illness ask the same question: what's the right supplement, medication, or protocol to fix this deficiency?

Dr. Erika asks a different one: Are You Healing the Right Things?

That distinction matters more than it sounds. Conventional medicine is excellent at acute and emergency care, but it's built to manage symptoms, not sequence healing. Functional medicine expands the conversation nutrition, lifestyle, lab testing but according to Dr. Erika, it can still skip the sequencing question entirely, correcting whatever deficiency shows up on paper regardless of whether the body is actually ready to hold that correction.

Why "Out of Order" Looks Like a Difficult Case

According to the episode, what gets labeled a "complicated" or "treatment-resistant" case is often just healing attempted in the wrong sequence. Dr. Schultz walks through the hidden stressors that, left unaddressed, will quietly undo even a well-designed protocol: food sensitivities, chronic infections such as parasites and Lyme-related illness, environmental toxins, heavy metals, mold exposure, scar tissue, electromagnetic stress, chronic emotional stress and unresolved trauma, and genetic predisposition.

On genetics specifically, she's direct: genetics are not destiny. What matters is what's influencing how those genes express and that influence is often one of the very stressors sitting earlier in the sequence, unaddressed.

This is why Dr. Erika cautions against treating a normalized lab value as a finished case. Correcting a deficiency before clearing what caused it doesn't fix the order problem, it just adds another layer on top of it. Sometimes that unresolved dysfunction doesn't disappear. It resurfaces later as something else.

Rebuilding Has to Come After Clearing, Not Instead of It

The episode's clinical throughline is that a body still carrying unresolved stressors can't fully use even the best-designed nutritional support. Isolated synthetic nutrients can move a lab value, but they don't rebuild a tissue that's still under active interference.

This is where Dr. Erika introduces protomorphogens (PMGs) whole-food, organ-specific nutritional extracts designed to support the repair of the exact tissues under stress, once the ground has actually been cleared for that repair to hold. Paired with whole-food nutrition, this step only works in sequence attempted too early, it becomes one more input the body can't fully use.

The Order That Actually Restores Function

None of this means symptom relief has no place for people in crisis who need real support in the moment. But the episode is clear that relief and resolution aren't the same thing, and neither is correction without sequence.

Dr. Erika outlines the healing order at the center of The Resiliency Method®:

  1. Clearidentify and remove the hidden stressors interfering with normal biological function

  2. Rebuild support the repair of specific organs and tissues using targeted, whole-food nutrition, now that the body can actually use it

  3. Restore return the body to regulating itself, reducing long-term dependence on medications or supplements

The purpose of this episode is to stop asking "what should I add next?" and start asking "what order do these things actually need to happen in?"

"The body isn't broken. It's just been trying to heal in the wrong order."

This episode is a reminder that being a "difficult case" often isn't about how hard someone has tried, it's about whether healing has ever been given the chance to happen in the order the body actually needs.
